♥ Scholars claim that the translation of “Edelweiss” was lost in the Franco-German wars of 1223-5 but anecdotal evidence, backed up by prehistoric markings on secret caves close to Méribel, suggest that the literal translation is “fantastic chalet / close to ski lift / wonderful service.”
♥ We would not deign to involve ourselves in such hi-brow linguistic debate but we can guarantee that, if you stay in Chalet Edelweiss, you will agree that it is a fantastic chalet, you will find very little trouble in walking 50 metres to the ski lift and you will marvel at the wonderful service on offer!
♥ Chalet Edelweiss is very large for a small chalet…the vast open-plan living/dining area is packed full of features with two stunning dry-stone walls, a wooden column, two sets of sliding doors (one onto a balcony) and the absolute must-have staple for any ski chalet: a large open fire. For your bottoms, there are chairs and, for your plates, there is a table!
♥ We highly recommend the bedrooms in this chalet for sleeping. In each, you will find comfortable beds with duvets that will hug you to sleep!
♥ As a parent, one big advantage of Chalet Edelweiss for me is the two levels with two bedrooms on each floor…so you can banish the pesky little blighters off to slumberland whilst you get tucked into another bottle of red!
