If you are seriously thinking of buying new skis in resort then test them first. These shops will let you rent different models to test, then they will refund the rental if/when you purchase a new pair. Freeride.fr actually let you test brand new skis (every size is usually available) for free for 2 hours. To test for a full day is 20 euros or half day is 15 euros. This fee is refunded if you make a purchase.
If the skis you want to test are not available try suggesting this option to another shop that does have them.
