MERIBEL SKI LESSONS
Your ski lessons or snowboard lessons ability level will normally fall in to one of these approximate categories.
Level 1
Absolute Beginner (never been on a ski or snowboard before)
Level 2
Beginner (but with some dry slope ski practice)
Level 3
lower Intermediate. (1-2 weeks skiing)
Level 4
Intermediate (3-4 weeks skiing)
Level 5
Advanced. (5+ weeks skiing)
All ski schools have their own preferred class sizes and booking systems but weekly ski lessons or snowboard lessons are usually
mornings or afternoons. During high season these are extended to take in a group lesson at lunchtime also. If you are with a friend
and both taking ski school, but at different levels, then it may be worth checking out all instruction options. You should find
a solution that will enable you to take your lessons at the same time, even if you have to choose separate schools. This situation
would normally only occur at high season or with late bookings, but can be a serious problem for families with children.

MERIBEL SKI INSTRUCTORS
We know many of the Meribel & Mottaret ski teachers personally as some
of us have actually taken ski instruction or snowboard instruction in the past. It is usually great fun and without doubt your skiing
will improve immensely. Many people have made lifelong friends in their ski classes. Remember, a ski instructor spends up to 5 years
training for the full certificate to give tuition so they all know how to help you get the most out of your skiing/snowboarding. Many
a snowboard instructor is also qualified to teach skiing, so you have the best of both worlds. Another bonus in Meribel is that all
ski instructors and snowboard instructors have lift priority. This means that they have their own separate queue. This can save lots
of wasted time in high season. In fact in French holidays it is worth joining ski class for this reason alone.
MERIBEL SKI INSTRUCTION OFF PISTE
If you are an expert skier or snowboarder and fancy some off Piste powder (especially good in January) or spring snow (late Feb/Mar/April)
then consider the following options.
|
1) Group Ski Lessons.
All the ski schools will arrange private groups for off Piste ski trips by the day or the week. Heli
skiing (not allowed in France) is also an option at Rosiere on the Italian border. (2 hrs away)
2) Individual Off Piste Ski Instruction
The ESF and the Mountain
Guides office have daily open groups which you can join if alone. The mountain guides office or those Guides working within the
ESF are the only ski instructors allowed to take clients on to the Glacier. (An experience in itself). We can thoroughly recommend
it from our very own personal experience. However this adventure is for accomplished Piste skiers only. If you have a fear of heights
always check with the ski teacher or the ski school office what the next day's skiing will consist of as the trips sometimes include
some (usually mild) mountain climbing. These ski adventures really are an incredible experience. Try it .You will love it.
