Meribel Chalet Holidays

Budget -  Comfortable – Superior - Luxury

Meribel Chalets for Singles & Couples:
A few private chalets accept "whole chalet" bookings only, but the majority of Meribel's chalets do cater for smaller groups including singles and couples. In fact some even concentrate their efforts on your patronage, reserving their other chalets for families with children. You might also prefer a larger chalet with a more diverse selection of skiing or snowboarding guests. This would certainly improve your chances of finding interesting and suitable dinner partners.

Meribel Chalets for Groups.
Although some private chalets specialise in "whole chalet" bookings, all Meribel chalet operators will be more than happy to cater for a total group booking. They will often give some kind of discount or benefit if you completely fill the chalet for them. We have deliberately listed chalets in size to make your choice that little bit easier. Having taken this type of Chalet holiday with other skiing friends for many years here is some quality advice. Slip a few quid tip in to your chalet girl's palm immediately on arrival at your accommodation. This small consideration normally works wonders. Chalet girls are only human and they work really hard for peanuts. (And no, we don't receive special girlie favours for mentioning this!)

Meribel Chalets for Families.
Families should also try to gain some idea of the type of guests they will be sharing with. Most chalets in Meribel give child discounts and offer a childminding or babysitting service if required. There is also a fully equipped crèche for young children in Meribel Les Allues. The crèche is operated by Shirley Oneill a well respected, fully qualified, English nanny.

Meribel Chalets out of Town.
The ski resort of Meribel has grown heavily over recent years and now finds itself stretching throughout the whole of the Meribel valley. Originally, what is now the centre of Meribel was known as Meribel Les Allues. Nowadays it is usually referred to as just Meribel or Meribel Town. Chalet companies and private chalet owners have now started to offer cheaper holidays some distance outside of the main town. To compensate, these chalet holidays normally include a mini bus service to and from the Meribel lift centre at Chaudanne. This service is included in the price of your holiday.
As a result a Chalet Holiday in the ski resort of Meribel could now include all the following areas as well as Meribel itself. Meribel Les Allues Village, Meribel Village, Chandon, Raffort, La Gittaz or Le Cruet. These venues have both advantages and disadvantages. They are very competitive price wise and the Chalets tend to be in quiet and peaceful areas. The free ski transfer service eliminates much of the disadvantage. However if you wish to be in the centre of the action, especially nightlife, then you should possibly consider a chalet nearer the centre of town.

Meribel Les Allues:
A charming little village about 10 minutes drive from Meribel Centre. It has a very popular little bar with live music plus a choice of 4 restaurants. It has it's own bubble connection to Meribel ski centre. (15 minutes)
Meribel Village:
A small, modern and attractive development in the original old Meribel Village just 5 minutes drive from town. It has a popular bar with live music, plus two restaurants and a health centre. It has its own chair lift to Meribel Altiport ski area. (10 minutes)
Meribel Raffort:
A small village/hamlet of Meribel just 5 minutes drive from the town centre. It has one restaurant and it's own bubble connection in Raffort car park. The bubble goes direct to the main Meribel ski lift centre at Chaudanne. (5 minutes)
Meribel La Gittaz:
A quiet, tiny village/hamlet. A part of Meribel it is also just a few minutes drive from town. The nearest ski lift is a few minutes away at the Raffort car park, connecting again to the Meribel Ski lift Centre. (5 minutes).
Meribel Chandon:
A small peaceful village/hamlet about 10 minutes drive from Meribel. The Private Chalets situated here have their own personal minibuses for transfers to and from the main Meribel ski lift centre.
Meribel Le Cruet:
A tiny hamlet situated about midway between Meribel Town centre and Les Allues Village.

Meribel Chalet Prices.

Chalet prices in Meribel are highly affected by position. Chalet operators pay really enormous sums of money in rent for all piste side Chalets. Subsequently these chalets are normally to be found in the luxury category. In truth, all Meribel chalets are incredibly expensive to rent for a season. Consequently if you sometimes feel the price seems a little high, dig deep for a little sympathy for the chalet operator. He/she has to pay the Chalet owner 's rent even if the chalet was empty all January!

The official Meribel skiing season is 19 weeks.17th  Dec 2005 till  Ist May  2006.It is very busy during high season (4th February till mid March). Hence prices are higher due to the increased demand from both within France and of course the UK.

Remember, most chalets in Meribel their reduce prices considerably during December/January and April when the slopes are wonderfully quiet and the snow is sometimes the very best of the season. Unless you have absolutely no option, it might be well worth considering a low season holiday.
Luxury Chalets:
Google definition of Luxury: Sumptuous living or surroundings!

Luxury chalets in Meribel certainly meet up to this definition. You will usually find En Suite Bathrooms, Sauna and/or Jacuzzi, Log Fire, Sat TV, DVD, Telephone, Internet Connection, plus of course superior wine and superb food. If the chalet is not situated near the piste expect a first class private luxury minibus transfer. Naturally the price usually reflects these extra services.

Standard/Budget Chalets:
These vary immensely in price, position and standards. Most are set some distance from the piste so a private minibus transfer will prove very convenient. There is a free bus service in Meribel but this is often very crowded especially in high season. Meribel chalets are generally of a high standard and even budget chalets usually have an option of en suite facilities, log fire, DVD or Video. Food and wine quality will vary chalet to chalet with great emphasis on the skill and flair of your individual chalet girl. Be sure to look after her as they earn very little money.
The following is a comprehensive choice of Meribel chalet operators, together with Meribel's private chalet owners. Unless otherwise stated, accommodation reservations can be made for just one or two people or any size of group up to the maximum stated.
We think you should find your perfect holiday in our chalet section but if by chance you need any extra advice or information feel free to e-mail us.
